He served as a director of IMS Health, Inc. from 1996 to 2010 and as Lead Director from 2006 to 2010. He also served as a director of PolyMedica Corporation from 2005 to 2008 and served as a trustee of NSTAR from 2002 until NSTAR merger with the Company in 2012. He is an honorary director of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce and previously served as a director of the United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley since 2020.
