Ms. Judith M. Stockdale is Independent Director of Nuveen Core Equity Alpha Fund. Ms. Stockdale retired at the end of 2012 as Executive Director of the Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation, a private foundation working in land conservation and artistic vitality in the Chicago region and the Lowcountry of South Carolina. Her previous positions include Executive Director of the Great Lakes Protection Fund, Executive Director of Openlands, and Senior Staff Associate at the Chicago Community Trust. She has served on the Boards of the Land Trust Alliance, the National Zoological Park, the Governors Science Advisory Council, the Nancy Ryerson Ranney Leadership Grants Program, Friends of Ryerson Woods and the Donors Forum

Nuveen Core Equity Leadership Team
Elected by the shareholders, the Nuveen Core's board of directors comprises two types of representatives: Nuveen Core inside directors who are chosen from within the company, and outside directors, selected externally and held independent of Nuveen. The board's role is to monitor Nuveen Core's management team and ensure that shareholders' interests are well served. Nuveen Core's inside directors are responsible for reviewing and approving budgets prepared by upper management to implement core corporate initiatives and projects. On the other hand, Nuveen Core's outside directors are responsible for providing unbiased perspectives on the board's policies.
