Mr. Jack B. Evans serves as Independent Director of Nuveen Select Maturities Municipal Fund since 1999. He is Chairman, formerly, President, of The HallPerrine Foundation, a private philanthropic corporation, Mr. Evans was formerly President and Chief Operating Officer of the SCI Financial Group, Inc., a regional financial services firm headquartered in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Formerly, he was a member of the Board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, a Director of Alliant Energy and a Member and President Pro Tem of the Board of Regents for the State of Iowa University System. Mr. Evans is Chairman of the Board of United Fire Group, sits on the Board of The American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery as a Public Member Director and is a Life Trustee of Coe College. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Coe College and an MBA from the University of Iowa. Mr. Evans joined the Board in 1999.

Elected by the shareholders, the Nuveen Select's board of directors comprises two types of representatives: Nuveen Select inside directors who are chosen from within the company, and outside directors, selected externally and held independent of Nuveen.
