Mr. Ronald L. Havner, Jr. was appointed Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Company. Mr. Havner joined the Board in November, 2002 and has served as Chairman since August 2011. Mr. Havner served as Chief Executive Officer of Public Storage from November 2002 until his retirement effective January 1, 2019. Mr. Havner joined Public Storage in 1986 and held a variety of senior management positions prior to becoming CEO. Mr. Havner has served as Chairman of the Board of Public Storages affiliate, PS Business Parks since March 1998, and as Chairman of the Board of another Public Storage affiliate, Shurgard Self Storage SA since completion of its initial public offering in October 2018. Mr. Havner also serves as a director of AvalonBay Communities, Inc. and served as director of California Resources Corporationration from December 2014 to May 2018. Mr. Havner was the 2014 Chairman of the Board of Governors of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts, Inc. . Mr. Havners qualifications for the Board include his extensive leadership experience and company and industry knowledge. Having served as Chief Executive Officer for 17 years, Mr. Havner provides an invaluable perspective in Board discussions about the historic operations and strategic direction of the company. since 2019.
