Dr. Michael J. Shields is Vice President Exploration of the Company. Dr. Shields is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Aluna Energy Corporationration, a private Canadian exploration and production company he founded in 2012. Dr. Shields currently resides in Bogot, Colombia where he has assembled and directs an exploration team pursuing an organic growth strategy for new conventional oil plays in Colombia. Prior to creating Aluna, Dr. Shields was an original member of Canacol Energy Ltd.s exploration team where he held the position of exploration and technical manager from 2008 to 2011. Dr. Shields was in the oil and gas industry since receiving his Ph.D. in geology from Southern Methodist University in 1994. His began his professional career as a geologist with Imperial Oil Canada and he subsequently served in various technical and management roles at Wasacana Energy Inc., Occidental Petroleum Corporationrationration, Nexen, Inc., Talisman Energy Inc., and Canacol Energy Ltd. Dr. Shields is an experienced businessman with an extensive record of success in exploration and exploitation projects in the Middle East, Indonesia, Nigeria, Australia, and most recently, in Latin America.
