During his tenure at Union Bank, Mr. Matson served in a variety of management roles across the institution, including senior loan and credit officer; controller; senior vice president of merchant banking; senior vice president of institutional and deposit markets; executive vice president and director of Union Bank finance group; chief financial officer of the holding company and its subsidiary ; and as its vice chairman and chief financial officer until his retirement in February 2010.
