He was NATO Fellow. He was a visiting scholar at Columbia University, New York. He graduated in International Studies at the SantAnna School of Pisa and obtained a Master degree from the European University Institute, Florence. since 2014.

Elected by the shareholders, the Eni SpA's board of directors comprises two types of representatives: Eni SpA inside directors who are chosen from within the company, and outside directors, selected externally and held independent of Eni.
